Angela Evelyn Bassett has been an American actor since the late 1980s. She has been recognized for her TV and film performance since the 1980s. Her awards include the two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was born living in Winston-Salem North Carolina, raised by her aunt and Uncle in New York New York. Bassett along with her sister and their mother moved to St. Petersburg Florida when Bassett was five. The father of the family had split from the mother of their children. While in high school Bassett watched John Steinbeck's drama Of Mice and Men starring James Earl Jones and decided she would like to be an actor. In the year 1980, Bassett graduated from Yale University New Haven Connecticut with a degree in African American studies. She was also awarded a degree by The Yale School of Drama. In 1997, she was married Courtney B. Vance who was a fellow actor. Qualification: B.A. Graduated from Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree of African American studies, in 1980.
